  • When rotated, it makes the I’D S, I’D L and I’D EVAC or RIG self-braking descender loss-proof when transferred from the equipment loop to the ventral attachment point or anchor
  • The spur helps increase friction for improved descent control with a heavy load (e.g. two-person rescue situation)

Petzl FREINO Z

Alloy karabiner with friction spur

The Petzl FREINO Z is an auto-locking karabiner with a friction spur for adjusting friction for improved descent control with a heavy load. Rope is easily inserted into the spur with one hand, without opening the karabiner. It is compatible with Petzl descenders I’D S, I’D L, I’D EVAC and RIG self-braking. When rotated, it makes the descender loss-proof when transferred from the equipment loop to the ventral attachment point or anchor. The Keylock system helps prevent snagging of the karabiner during manoeuvres. The triact-lock system unlocks quickly in two steps by raising and turning the sleeve. Each karabiner is individually tested and given Petzl's standard three year guarantee against any defects in materials or manufacture.
