Petzl Am'D Series Karabiner

Lightweight asymmetrical karabiner

The Petzl Am’D is a lightweight aluminium asymmetric karabiner that features a D shape particularly suited for connection to equipment such as descenders or positioning lanyards. The H cross-section ensures an improved strength-to-weight ratio and protects traceability markings from abrasion. Its fluid interior design and Keylock system facilitate handling and helps prevent snagging of the karabiner during manoeuvres. May be used with a CAPTIV positioning bar to favour loading of the karabiner along the major axis, to limit the risk of it flipping and to keep it integrated with the device. Each karabiner is individually tested and given Petzl's standard three year guarantee against any defects in materials or manufacture. The Am’D karabiner is available in three locking systems:

    Automatic BALL-LOCK locking system:
         - Green dot indicates when sleeve is locked
         - Quick to unlock in two steps, by pressing on the green dot and turning the sleeve
         - Can be opened and closed with one hand
         - Recommended when a karabiner needs to be frequently opened and closed

    Manual SCREW-LOCK locking system:
         - Red indicator provides a visual warning when the karabiner is unlocked
         - Recommended for harsh environments (mud, ice), where dust and dirt could cause an automatic locking mechanism to malfunction
         - Recommended when a karabiner needs to be opened and closed occasionally

    Automatic TRIACT-LOCK locking system:
         - Unlocks quickly in two steps, by raising and then turning the sleeve
         - Recommended when a karabiner needs to be frequently opened and closed
